In 2011, the Lord brought together three families who shared the conviction that God requires Christian fathers to provide their children with educations where the truth of Christ reigns in all areas of life — including all academic subjects (Deut. 6; Eph. 6). These families became convinced of the efficacy of the classical Christian approach through reading Dorothy Sayers’ essay The Lost Tools of Learning and Douglas Wilson’s books Recovering the Lost Tools of Learning and The Case for Classical Christian Education, as well as first-hand experiences with classical Christian schools in other areas. Finding no classical Christian schools in the Twin Cities west metro, they determined through prayer and glimpses of God’s providential hand that it was His will for them to start Agape Christi Academy.
Agape Christi, translated from Greek and Latin, means “Love of Christ.” It is this love of Christ that compels us to disciple students, emboldening them to develop and invest their God-given talents for the growth of the Church, the good of the world, and the glory of God. Agape Christi’s logo—a white horse bridled by the love of Christ—depicts the two-fold power and humility we seek to impart to our students.
In September 2013, Agape Christi Academy opened its doors in an Eden Prairie office building with just 13 students across grades 1-4 and a part-time headmaster. Although there were few amenities, the school grew to 75 students before moving to a new location. Liberty Baptist Church in Eden Prairie welcomed Agape Christi in 2019 and generously supported the school through the global COVID pandemic, making sacrificial accommodations to allow for the school’s unprecedented growth. The first Agape Christi Academy graduation ceremony was held in May 2023, and in the summer of 2025, Agape Christi moved into the campus of Faith Church in Minnetonka.
We are grateful for the pioneer-minded families who helped forge the path of Agape Christi Academy and the many more who have supported the school financially and prayerfully over the years.
