Pressing On After the Polls

The Agape Christi founders are still pressing on with the opening of the first classical Christian school in the southwest metro. Considering the results of the election yesterday, we feel a return to classical Christian education is needed for our children now more than ever. We are not fearful of the future, but trust in the promises of God, particularly that:

1) The earth will be full of the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea (Isa 11:9)
2) All our children shall be taught by the Lord, and great shall be the peace of our children (Isa 54:13).

Something that stood out to us in the election coverage last night was the results shown in the exit polls regarding voter age. The majority of voters ages 45 and older voted republican, while the majority of voters ages 18-44 voted democrat. This is startling because it tells us that one generation has not done a good job of passing on their values to another.

There is other data too from a Christian organization that has shown that Christian highschool students in public schools, as well as Christian students in traditional Christian schools, have both become more secular in their thinking in the areas of politics, economics, education, and religion. It is entirely possible to hold to the Christian faith in the heart, yet think like a secularist humanist. This double-life living is exactly what Jesus condemned so sternly.

The encouraging news is that Christian students in worldview Christian schools have actually increased in their biblical worldview thinking. These schools included schools in the Association of Classical and Christian Schools, an accrediting agency that Agape Christi plans to be part of. In the end, the point of education is not to train up conservative voters, but it is to teach children to love the Lord their God with all their heart, soul, strength, and mind.

If you’d like to hear more about classical and Christian education, we invite you to take part in an Agape Christi house party. This is a chance for you to gather with your friends to talk about education as an Agape Christi spokesperson leads the conversation on one of these topics of your choosing:

  • Why Classical Christian Education
  • Making a Wise School Decision
  • Indoctrination
  • Trivium Sketches
