Mrs. Hitterdal shares about the Kindergarten trip to the Eloise Butler Wildflower Garden.
We had a wonderful time at the Eloise Butler Wildflower Garden. God blessed us with a nice day and we were able to appreciate many of God’s creations up close. It was a late September day, so it was a little chilly outside, but upon our arrival our host had a cozy fire going in the cabin and we were able to enjoy our snack at the large table inside. While we ate, our host was able to share information about what we might see, and our kindergartners had many wonderful questions which she was pleased to answer. Once our snack was finished we bundled up with our jackets and gloves to head out on the trail. Along the way we stopped and talked about the many plants and animals we were seeing and the students were able to make rubbings of the many leaves from a wide variety of trees. Since we had recently studied goldenrod, it was very exciting to see zigzag goldenrod. Another highlight, despite being out of season, was the remains of the showy lady’s slipper, our state flower. God’s creation is diverse, and we saw turkey tail mushroom, a leaf referred to as goosefoot from the green and white striped maple, and many birds including woodpeckers and chickadees. Other highlights inside the cabin were found on a table full of nature artifacts; including a bear claw and an owl’s wing. All of creation proclaims the glory of God!
